White Tooth Fillings
Colorado Springs
White fillings, or composite fillings, are an attractive alternative to the traditional silver amalgam fillings. They're made of composite quartz resin, which is very strong, and designed to match the color of your natural teeth.
Advantages of white fillings
They bond to the tooth and restore most of the tooth’s original strength
They contain no mercury, which is present in amalgam fillings and thought by some to be toxic (although the American Dental Association states that there’s no definitive proof of toxicity)
They require less removal of tooth around the cavity
There’s less likelihood of your tooth becoming heat-sensitive
They match the natural color of your teeth, enhancing your smile
How are white fillings done?
Decay is removed and your tooth is shaped to best hold the filling
Dr. Solich will use a very mild acid solution to etch the tooth surface where the filling will be placed
He’ll apply a thin resin which bonds to the etched tooth surface
Then the composite material is placed into the tooth
A special light is shone on the new filling for about 40 seconds to harden it
If your teeth need attention and you’d like to know more about which type of filling would be most appropriate in your specific case, email or call for an initial consultation. Dr. Solich will examine your teeth thoroughly and explain the various options. He’ll listen to your concerns, and together you can decide on the best course of action.
